Nestled in the southern slope of the Rhodope village Kiselchovo, the boutique century-old house Hvarchillo seems to offer a trip back in time, forward to nature and away from everyday worries. Built by a Rhodope family many years ago, it has been restored so that it preserves its authentic look with a modern artistic twist.

This is a place, its creators say, that values time spent in nature, connecting with the land, clean air and good food. Beautiful views more than make up for the absence of a television set, and the starry sky is an observatory cut off from mobile networks and phone service.

The creators of Hvarchillo say that the place chose them with its natural and architectural features, "because it reinforces the feeling of beauty, comfort and a calm and balanced life."

In order to preserve the authentic atmosphere of the house, the owners have introduced a modern take on traditions, using all-natural materials such as stone, wood, handmade wool mattresses and bedding, designed by Home of wool, Sevarex hemp insulation, plaster made of clay and lime mixed with straw, and the rooms smell of essential oils. They have also given new life to elements from the original interior, and they’ve entrusted the renovation of furniture and other household items to the Punkt workshop.

However, the coziness they’ve created is a result of more than just good design and the practical application and sense of aesthetics in everyday objects, but also of their "hospitality and personal attitude towards the guests, as well as sincerity and warmth," the hosts of Hvurchilo tell us.

A must-see attraction nearby is the 360-degree view from Mount Bodurlan, which allows your gaze to fly all the way to the Kom and Perelik peaks, as well as the White Sea and Greece. Guests can enjoy the pleasure of contemplating and becoming one with nature, sharing these experiences with others, hiking, movies under the stars, dancing around the fire and the shared pleasure of real food prepared with a lot of love.
