The floor can be one of the main highlights of a space, especially when it is "dressed" in SUBCULTURA. The Bulgarian brand for handmade carpets, ceramics, cushions, mirror frames and panels first appeared in 2020 – "at a time when I needed it," says its founder, architect and designer Margarita Dimitrova. Since then, she has been donating a lot of time, energy and strength to this "small but strong child" of hers. "I try not to get stuck in one place and I constantly generate new ideas and products. We are still settling into our own style and brand recognition," she shares.

One of SUBCULTURA's main goals is to present new approaches to craft techniques, and the materials it uses are mostly natural – 100% wool, cotton, linen, silk, clay and others. It is inspired by design that is somewhere on the border between less is more and more is more. "Good design is design that makes you feel.

Sometimes we cross the boundaries of what can be understood, but I am very glad that there is always at least one person who appreciates our designs and discovers something for themselves," says Margarita and invites us to her favorite creative collaboration – the upcoming one. This is the Upcycled Capsule Collection, which is a joint project by SUBCULTURA и Frea Vintage Second Hand, and will be presented in the form of a fashion show on December 8 in the gallery at 3 Gerlovo Street. It will showcase high quality second hand finds that have minor defects and can embark on their new life with the help of different elements, techniques and improvements.

The limited edition collection will also be available at the Christmas edition of the Marchè Mellow bazaar, which begins the following day (December 9). The bazaar is a wonderful occasion to meet up with friends for a glass of wine and a bite to eat, and you will be able to explore Bulgarian artists and brands, a selection of vintage clothes, designer ceramics, textiles, home fragrances, designer chocolate, wine, illustrations, decorations, interior treasures, jewelry and children's books. Could there be an easier, faster and more pleasant way to check off a part of the gift shopping list – and do it with a smile?
